Professor Tomasz Rogula

Specialist in metabolic, bariatric, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery; attending physician, Director of the International Bariatric Clinic of Szpital na Klinach

The Director of the International Bariatric Clinic of Szpital na Klinach and the physician in charge of all patients is Professor Tomasz Rogula, a world-renowned specialist in metabolic, bariatric, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. For almost 10 years, he was the Director of the Center for Metabolic Surgery and the Head of the Department of General Surgery at the University Hospital in Cleveland, USA and was a professor and creator of the robotic bariatric surgery program at the Cleveland Clinic, one of the top hospitals in the USA.

Professor Rogula is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, where he obtained 1st and 2nd-degree specializations in general surgery, a doctorate, and habilitation. He currently holds a professorship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA and two Polish universities – the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. For almost 10 years, he worked at the Cleveland Clinic, USA. He was the Director of the Center for Metabolic Surgery and the Head of the Department of General Surgery at Case Western University Hospital in Cleveland, USA. During his time at the Cleveland Clinic, he founded and headed the first Center for Robotic Bariatric Surgery and received the Cleveland Clinic President’s Award twice for his achievements.

MSc Maria Brzegowy

Bariatric, oncological, and gastrointestinal nutritionist

Magister Maria Brzegowy is a graduate of two disciplines: Food Technology and Human Nutrition at the University of Agriculture in Krakow and Dietetics in the specialization of Clinical Nutrition at the Silesian Medical School in Katowice. She also completed postgraduate studies in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Currently she is completing the last stage of her doctoral dissertation and regularly participates in scientific events, including training and conferences to expand her knowledge. Additionally, she is a nutrition educator, lecturer, editor of medical content, and author of numerous scientific and popular science publications.

Dr Aleksander Kania

Internal medicine and lung diseases specialist with many years of clinical experience in the treatment of sleep apnea and obesity hypoventilation.

Dr. Kania specializes in the treatment of respiratory failure by non-invasive ventilation as an Assistant professor at the Pulmonology Clinic of Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum. He gained experience on research scholarships at McMaster University in Canada and Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. He is the Chairman of the Intensive Therapy and Rehabilitation Section of the Polish Society of Lung Diseases and a member of numerous specialist medical organizations, such as the Sleeping Breathing Disorders Section of the Polish Society of Lung Diseases, the Polish Sleep Research Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the European Respiratory Society.

MSc Monika Włoskowicz Majsak

Psychologist, psychotherapist

Monika Włoskowicz Majsak is a graduate of applied psychology from the Jagiellonian University. She completed a psychotherapy course at the Chair and Clinic of Psychiatry of Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum, certified by SNP PTP (in the psychodynamic and systemic approach). She has over 10 years of professional experience, including the Dr. Babiński Specialist Hospital in Krakow, mental health clinics, and as part of her own private practice. In her work, she deals with the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety, adaptation disorders, eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, personality disorders, reaction to severe stress, pervasive and mixed developmental disorders, and other symptoms, and signs of disease related to emotional state.

Dr Paweł Nastałek

Internal medicine specialist and pulmonary specialist

Dr. Nastałek has many years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of breathing disorders during sleep (sleep apnea) and the treatment of respiratory failure, especially by non-invasive mechanical ventilation, as well as internal diseases and lung diseases. He is the author of numerous scientific papers published in renowned specialist journals and is a member of the Polish Society of Lung Diseases.

 

Dr Jacek Pachota

An anesthesiologist specializing in intensive care and pain medicine procedures

Dr. Pachota is a graduate of the Medical Academy in Krakow, and was one of the first anesthesiologists to introduce a perioperative inspection card, a patient safety procedure recommended by the World Health Organization. He has many years of clinical experience in Intensive Care Units in the field of preparing patients for procedures, their anesthesia, and treatment immediately after the surgery. He uses foreign professional models in his daily work and is their esteemed advocate in the Malopolska Region.

Dr Mariusz Wiśniewski

Cardiologist, internist

Dr. Wiśniewski has over 20 years of professional experience at the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow, where he is currently the head of the Admission Room. He deals with the diagnosis of cardiological and internal problems, including sudden illnesses, such as infections, and cases requiring constant care, such as heart and lung diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and arrhythmias. As part of the visit, it is possible to perform extensive cardiological diagnostics – e.g., ECG, Holter EKG, or exercise ECG.
